I have a history of creating Haunted experiences such as Haunted Mazes, Live Shows, Marketing Events, Characters and Street experiences.
From Halloween Horror Nights to Howl-O-Scream, here is a sampling of my projects that are designed to bring the fright and the fun of the Halloween season.
Halloween on the High Seas
Disney Cruise Line
Halloween is filled with iconic elements: The change of leaves, the cold wind of a chilly October night, the orange, flickering glow emanating from a carved pumpkin. In 2013, the spooky thrills and chills of Halloween arrived at the Disney Dream. I created the event featuring a full menu of entertainment offerings. In 2014, the event went fleet-wide and is now a staple of the Fall months aboard all the ships of the Disney Cruise Line.
A Nightmare Before Christmas: Sing and Scream
You're invited to a special presentation of Tim Burton's popular classic, presented in 3-D. Featuring state-of-the-art projection, sound and in-theatre effects, you become part of the experience, as you sing and scream along. You never know who may show up.
The Pumpkin Tree
Do you know why we celebrate Halloween? Or why we carve jack-a-lanterns?
Then join the Caretaker at the Pumpkin Tree, and hear some fun stories and customs of Halloween. Also make sure to bring your pumpkin seed with you. There'll be some spooky surprises, and we promise a ghostly good time.
Mickey’s Mouse-Querade Party
The Atrium of the Disney Dream is the location for classic Halloween fun, inspired by Fall festivals and Halloween carnivals.
Haunted Stories of the Sea
For Halloween, there is a tradition of telling ghostly tales of spooks and specters. That tradition comes to the Disney Dream where Kids of all ages can enjoy classic Halloween storytelling, music and mischievous fun. Set against the backdrop of the deck screen, fun, engaging Storytellers each take a turn trying to "out scare" each other, relaying stories of sea ghosts, mysterious fogs, and goblins. The screen becomes our focal scenic piece as the stories are brought to life through projected elements at key moments.
Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream
Blood Relations brings pop culture and horror together. Here the audience enjoys the five “Family Members to explain their motivations and then choose the culprit. With five custom endings, the show allowed for multiple viewings and a success for the event.

Halloween Horror Nights
From 1995 - 2002, I was instrumental in the development team for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. I returned to Halloween from 2005-2009 as Lead Creative Director. From scripting, to design to show direction, I helped create over 100 experiences, including mazes, street experiences and live shows. Here are some of the highlights of my Halloween Horror Nights projects.
J. Michael Roddy Promo Reel: Halloween Horror Nights
As part of the event, I was instrumental in creating several icon characters for Halloween Horror Nights that could be leveraged to market the event to the consumer. Working with the marketing and PR team as well as the art & design and costuming team, I crafted the storyline, the look and helped cast and direct these popular characters.

Halloween Horror Nights
The favorite time-travelling “dudes” from San Dimas made a yearly trip to celebrate Halloween at Universal Studios. Each year brought an all-new satirical and scathing commentary on pop culture. From 1999 – 2002, I wrote and directed the show.
Jack's Carnival of Carnage
Halloween Horror Nights 2007
Jack, the psychotic clown prince of mayhem presented his special brand of sideshow mayhem in an all-new stage show that combined amazing illusions, music and intense horror in the greatest tradition of the Grand Guignol. Joining Jack in his carnival of carnage are three bizarre characters that help carry out the dark clown’s mission of malice.
